How to recognise scammers and protect your money?

#
Modern scammers can sound or look very professional – they can speak politely, know your name, and even wish you a nice day after ripping you off. But don’t let them fool you! Paysera consultants would never ask you to disclose any sensitive data, such as your card PIN code, CVV code, card number and expiry date, or login details. If you receive such a request – this is the first sign that you are facing a financial scammer.

Mobile scams. Is this really Paysera calling? ☎️

We value our clients' time and call them very rarely, and during the call we NEVER ask you to provide personal information, such as:

  • Card number;
  • Card PIN code;
  • Card CVV number;
  • Card expiry date;
  • Login password to the Paysera system;
  • Email password;
  • Mobile app login code;
  • Confirmation code received by SMS;
  • We never ask to transfer money to a certain account;
  • We never ask to change your password;
  • We never tell you to enter any code into the app or the desktop version of Paysera, etc.

It is usually none other than financial scammers themselves who request such data, and you should never disclose it to third parties when speaking on the phone or on social networks.

Fake websites. Be extra cautious when logging in! 💻

In the age where anyone can create their own website – the risk of fake banking websites also increases tremendously. A phishing website can look just like ours, and sometimes may even confuse us ourselves. Attacks, when fraudsters recreate a bank’s login window 1:1, are becoming very common and the only way to really spot the difference is to carefully read the URL.

Enter your login details only on the bank.paysera.com website. Avoid simply googling "Paysera" to find the login page, as sometimes scammers may even set up Google Ads to guide you straight into their arms.

Other types of fraud 🕵️‍♂️

📧 Phishing emails. Got an email urging you to log in to the Paysera website and confirm your identity or your account will be blocked ASAP? Take it with a grain of salt. We might send you a reminder email to fill out a Know Your Customer questionnaire but we will never encourage you to click on suspicious links or respond to us with your password. Have doubts? Contact us to double-check if it’s really Paysera emailing you.

💸 Calls to invest. All investments should be carefully thought out and made with the consultation of independent financial advisers. We will never send you encouraging messages urging you to send some money and get much more in return. Easy money is often nothing more than a scam.

Fake social media accounts. And of course, social media – a useful tool for many occasions but a dangerous one too. There may be fake accounts circulating online that call themselves Paysera, official Paysera service resellers, or consultants. That’s a lie. You should get our services only from us directly and contact us only via social media channels provided on our website.

💳 Card resellers. Take note that if you contact a reseller to get a Paysera card – you risk losing not only your money but also your personal data, and we will not be able to help you out. Don’t provide your address, phone number, or login details to third parties. Such unofficial deals often end up with missing cards, then – missing money, or bigger misfortunes.

Official ways to contact us? 👋

If you are not sure if you are having a conversation with our consultant, hang up and call us on our official phone numbers available on our website or write to us on our official social network accounts.

However, avoid providing your personal information on social networks and never provide it in public comments. Use more private ways of communication, such as email or live chat on the Paysera website.
