Ticket distributors: the number of online events tripled during the quarantine


As the result of the quarantine, a growing number of events is held online. The ticketing system Paysera Tickets states that the number of online events has grown by three times during the quarantine.

Since the start of the quarantine (16.03), over 80 online events have been announced on the Paysera Tickets platform. In the same period in February, the number of such events was only 30. 

Vytenis Morkūnas, CEO of Paysera, the electronic payment institution that owns Paysera Tickets, is pleased with the quick adjustment of event organisers to the current situation. "According to the latest statistics, event organisers were particularly active after the first week of the quarantine, at the end of March, when the number of events announced online soared. This is only natural, as the first days of the quarantine were full of uncertainty for everybody, and hardly anyone was completely prepared for it. However, both events and other businesses quickly adapted and moved to cyberspace, which is practically where we live today," said Vytenis Morkūnas.

The number of online events has grown alongside their sales. During the quarantine, online ticket sales increased more than 5 times. This is reflected in the number of tickets sold. During the quarantine, almost 2 000 tickets for remote events were sold on the Paysera Tickets platform. By comparison, before the quarantine, the number of tickets sold for remote events was just over 200 per month.

" The thing that pleases us the most is not even the number of events that are being created, but the fact that their popularity and the size of their audiences have grown. This means that people at home find these remote events useful and necessary. It is especially exciting to see the emergence not only of so-called 'webinars' (online lectures) but also of sporting activities, such as dance classes and fitness classes. Maybe remote training will catch on as a great way to reach those audiences who sometimes don't feel like going to a live training session," said V. Morkūnas.

Although the variety of events is wide, a large number of them are closely linked to wellness: workouts, talks on healthy eating and mental health. Ticket agents also point out that there is no shortage of educational seminars on entrepreneurship, distance learning and financial management. Finally, the list of events during the quarantine has been expanded to include virtual quiz nights and video game tournaments. Most of the events are accessible via platforms such as Zoom, Facebook and Youtube.
